John Embley

Today we have a very sad but important announcement to share with our industry colleagues, many of whom will have fond memories of this wonderful person. It is with great sadness that we have to announce the recent passing of dear friend and long-term B-Tech employee John Embley. John passed away peacefully at home on Thursday 23rd April from natural causes.

Having worked in AV throughout most of his career, John was well known in the AV industry. John spent most of his career building up the global business for BIB designing and selling many accessories for the AV world ranging from VHS Headcleaners, CD Restorer Polish and the “Groov-Kleen” Record Cleaner - many products that became industry standards. In 1999, B-Tech acquired BIB and John stayed with the company until he retired from his role as Sales Director in 2016. During these years he played a large part in helping B-Tech become the company it is today, including sourcing our current premises in Daventry, overseeing the incorporation of B-Tech’s first European sister company (B-Tech Pro-AV in Belgium) as well as managing high growth retail accounts both in the UK and abroad. For this we will be forever grateful. Alongside his career in AV, John dedicated a huge part of his life to serving as a Special Constable in the Police Service, which is a role he held for over 30 years.

Universally described as “the nicest, most genuine person you could ever meet,” many people were fortunate enough to know John during his long and successful career. His uplifting persona and love for a humorous anecdote brought a smile to everyone who had the pleasure of working with him. Following his retirement John kept in close contact with us at B-Tech and the AV industry in general. His love and passion for the industry was only matched and beaten by his love for his family, his dog and classic cars! John is survived by his wife Christine, his children Richard and Claire.

He was a good friend to many of us and will be sorely missed.
