On Thursday, 14th August, B-Tech proudly returned to the prestigious Frilford Heath Golf Club in Oxford for our 9th Annual Invitational Golf Day. Set against the backdrop of 500 acres of picturesque countryside, the event brought together golf enthusiasts from across the AV industry, including valued customers, trusted partners and friends, for a day of friendly competition, connection and charitable giving.

This year marked a milestone for B-Tech, as we hosted our largest customer event to date. It was a fantastic opportunity to show appreciation for the ongoing support and collaboration we’ve received throughout the year, and to strengthen relationships in a relaxed, enjoyable setting.

Guests were greeted with glorious sunshine, morning refreshments and a comprehensive event briefing before teeing off at 11:30am for a full 18-hole round. Throughout the day, players enjoyed food and drinks, great company, and fun challenges on the course, including our always-entertaining “Longest Drive with a Marshmallow” competition. We're proud to share that this lighthearted challenge raised over £5,000 and counting in support of our good friend, former colleague and golf day regular, Norman, and his family.

After a memorable day on the course, attendees gathered at the clubhouse for a well-earned BBQ, drinks, the “Guess Daniel Horan’s First Ever Drive Distance” challenge, and an awards presentation celebrating standout performances.

Event organiser Matt Nixon shared his thoughts:

“Our 9th B-Tech Invitational Golf Day was a bit different this year, held in loving memory of our former colleague and dear friend Norman Case. The day was focused on remembering Big Norm and raising money for his children’s higher education, a journey upon which they are about to embark. I shouldn’t be surprised by this because the AV industry is full of fantastic individuals, but I’ve been truly humbled by the response we’ve had in supporting Norman’s day. We were fully booked almost instantly, with 20 teams getting their entry donations in the tin, and many donating much more than we had asked for. It was just lovely to see everyone pulling together to keep Norman’s memory alive. The whole day was another tremendous success, and the perfect reflection of the friendly and supportive community we've built over the years.

The weather was perfect, the golfing standard was high (in places), and the venue provided us with an excellent course and a buffet of BBQ food. Our additional fundraising games, such as Longest Drive with a Marshmallow and Daniel Horan’s First Ever Drive, were particular highlights, delivering plenty of laughs while raising money for a great cause.

It’s a shame we couldn’t have fitted more teams onto the course. The desire from the industry to be there for Norman could probably have filled several more. As we saw at his funeral, there is no venue big enough for Big Norm’s admirers. I'm very proud of everyone’s effort in delivering the most perfect memorial golf day. It’s always rewarding to see how much our guests enjoy the day, and they supported it 100%.
